2021 Election Special

There's more to life than fun and games. The candidates in the two lists below were all elected. None belong to the Alba Party, All for Unity, the Family Party, Freedom Alliance, Reform UK, UKIP or any of the other fringe parties or independents. Particular short shrift was given to a couple of fascists who stood in Glasgow Southside and were soundly beaten. With only 4 MSPs at Holyrood the Liberal Democrats no longer have an automatic right to ask questions of the First Minister. The SNP and Greens' total of 72 members gives the two pro-independence parties a majority of 15, reduced to a still decisive 14 following the appointment of Alison Johnstone to the post of Presiding Officer.

MSPs took the oath on 13 May in a number of languages including Scots, Gaelic, Punjabi and BSL. Why members of the Scottish Parliament have to swear allegiance to the Royal Family is beyond my ken but it's good to see them doing so in a variety of different ways as well as speaking in English.

If you are worried about whether dirty tricks played a part in the build-up to 6 May then you may well be right to be to be concerned. On the other hand, at least here in Scotland we'll not be expected in future to show personal ID before we are allowed to vote.

While their large egos will make it very difficult for them to accept, we should be hearing a lot less in the future from George Galloway, Michelle Ballantyne, Alex Salmond, Ruth Davidson and Stuart Campbell aka Wings Over Scotland.

To find out what every MSP is up to just click on her/his name.

Navy Blue = SNP. Lighter Blue = Tory. Red = Labour. Green = Green. Orange = Liberal Democrat.
